The snowstorm lasted for 2 weeks as it rained heavily and my heart plunged.

From the TV and radio, I knew other places in the southern parts of China were snowing heavily; the whole country was in a cold, white and icy world. People were shivering with cold; the extremely vile temperatures had injured their bodies. In most areas, electricity was cut off; the transportation systems had collapsed; the food provided was not enough; the water was too cold to be drunk. Many travelers were trapped in railway stations on their way home because of the collapsed transportation. Although troops of officials and soldiers were sent out to help them, they were still in extraordinarily bad conditions.

There was little snow in my hometown, but we were still upset from time to time. It had been raining there since other areas had started to snow. Most of the time, we could hardly enjoy the lightness of the electricity, the transportation had been cut off, and the county couldn’t provide enough electricity because little coal remained. In all, days have returned back to the days of primitive society. Nevertheless, I always kept quiet and waited patiently for the electricity to come even during tough times, I feel fretful, I would just listen to the radio or send messages to friends to kill the time.

But then, I couldn’t endure the bad weather any more. My heart was filled with bitterness. It seemed that I was filled with humiliation and indignation. During that time, I had a fierce quarrel with my younger brother. We said harsh words to each other and we were both deeply hurt.

Wanting to realize myself, I decided to turn to my friends and send messages to them. I took out my mobile phone, only to find that it was turned off. The electricity has been off for more than 7 days it was off during those days because there was no electrical power. I couldn’t send messages any more; all of my contacts with the outside world were cut off. The only thing I could do was to listen to the radio. But with stones in my heart, I felt so uneasy that all the radio programs seemed boring. Desperately, I cried out, “Electricity! Electricity! We need electricity! We want electricity!”

Suddenly, I found my younger brother behind me. He lowered his head with a piece of paper in his hand. I took it. The paper read, “I’m so sorry, sister, I shouldn't have said what I did to you.” I was surprised! I didn’t think he would apologize. Usually, when we had a quarrel we just let it go as time went by, maybe crying out reminded him. My younger brother spoke again, “I think it must be the dreary weather that made us be unhappy and have a quarrel. So we must be amused. I have a good idea! Let’s sing and dance!” I answered quickly, “Yes, it’s the unhappy weather that made us unhappy. I’m ant angry with you at all. I’m just unhappy with the weather! Anyway, singing is a good idea!”

There was still a videotape in my room and found the last battery. All the family children were gathered there. We stood in a circle in the proper order. After the rule was made clear, the game began. We sang happily and danced to the sweet music. As we sang and danced, the cold gradually went, and then came the spring-like warmth. The whole family began to be filled with a happy, harmonious atmosphere. My brother and I became good friends again.

It still rains hard outside; the wind is as heavy as before, but my heart is as warm as a feather, and I firmly believe that it clear out before long.
